UPDATES

May 2001 June 2001

May 4, 2001 12:30 pm - Tragedy has struck the team. Waineen attempted to brave the frigid 50 degree weather but finally succumbed to the biting cold. Huddled in a fetal position in front of ShopRite at Front and Olney waineen struggled to call (via cell) for help. Waineen was able to reach the home base and was auto lifted along with Debrah and Althea back to the warm confines of the agency. Waineen suffered 2nd degree frost bite on her toes and ears. She also claims that for a while her derier went numb. Being a trooper Waineen was able to continue the following day as the temperature did rise above 60 degrees.

May 10. 2001 1:00 pm -Again the hazards of walking has reared its ugly head again. This time Madeline was the next to fall (literally). With a single-minded, determination madeline pioneered up Tabor Road. While crossing the street madeline did not see the camoflaged pothole awaiting her. Madeline struck the pothole and sufferred a collision with the black top. Madeline was auto rescued and returned to home base. Upon arrival Madeline was again auto transported to Einstien Hospital. She suffered a major sprain in her ankle and a broken finger. We hope tp see her back in action soon.

May 11, 2001 12:00 pm -92 degrees. Our brave group set out to sweat and burn calories. Everyone made it back including Althea. Now mentioning Althea, it was discovered that she mapped out a new route on the walking path. This could be construed as cheating but Althea states" I was improvising". See map below:

You be the judge. Improvising or cheating?

May 12, 2001 1:30 pm - The stress may be getting to our brave souls. In their haste they forgotten a walking comrade. Linda Mensah. Linda was left stranded like an abandoned puppy on the side of the road by her comrades. Could this possibily an act of ignorance or fatigue. We'll see in the weeks to come.

May 17, 2001 12:30 pm - Today only 3 of our members walked. Althea, Dawn and Linda. The ranks of walker are starting to thin. You could even see the cellulite build up on the hips from the lack of participation. Excuses were thrown upon deaf ears. Shame was bestowed upon the "SLACKERS" and "undisciplined". Hopefully there will be better participation next time.

May 21, 2001 12:30 pm - Okay things are getting bad...... We can hear the cellulite just starting to cling to the hips of these fine warriors of the pavement. NOBODY....again NOBODY.....walked. They blamed it on the light, fine mist that couldn't even be considered drizzle. They were afraid of getting wet. It is shameful. The other half called out sick. Could it be the stress of the walk. Could it be mental strain of it all. This is becoming critical. Hopefully someone will have the guts to break out. Too lead. To be a rebel.
Someone suggested TaeBo. This could be the start in new chapter. We'll keep you updated.

Webmaster side note: Waineen has expressed some concerns that she is not adequately rspresented on this site because she and Debrah walk in the morning. Well to tell the truth" TOO BAD". I haven't seen her walk and I am not reporting hearsay on this site. This is a reputable site and I will not allow it to be used to post errouneous information.

May 22, 2001 12:30 pm - The sky as threatening today but,the torrential downpour has let up and the walking crew started up, hesitantly, but did walk minus 2 of the crew. (dont worry Waineen I wont mention names). No one seemed too winded and the accumulation of cellulite seemed to be in remission. Thank God.

May 28, 2001 11:45 am -The walking crew has started up walking again. Nearly everyone spoken to this morning (with maybe an exception or two) pigged out this weekend. "Butter-cake" was mentioned, as well as other pastries and fried foods. There also may have been a few hang overs. There will be hell to pay in the next week to keep those buns tight and guts toned. We can just hear the panting and huffing as our group marches on....ounce by ounce.

Webmaster side note: Please visit the walking log. This will document distance and time walked by our crew. Hopefully we can track and correlate that increased distance and decreased time walked equals tighter buns and thinner thighs.

May 29, 2001 11:30 am - Steadfast, Consistent, A man among men. This describes Charles Moran the fearless walker. Considering he was the only one walking today. Strangly there was no one in today. Dawns was in training, Debrah was out, Althea called out, Linda was doing the training, Ray was out. That leaves.....Waineen? What was here excuse. We called and found out...She said,""ugh, umm, duh" and something about "testing" the email system for about 60 minutes. One word "SHAMEFUL". For the rest... I hope you all feel better. Too bad your all sick it is a beautiful spring day today.
Oh yes and what about Madeline? We tried to find her for comment but she slunked away before we could get an answer. It must be a relapse of the sprained ankle.....Yeah Right.

May31, 2001 12:30 pm - They team went on a walk today. Debrah pointed out a lost baby bird. The Webmaster along with the help of Brian Loebig captured the stray hatchling and placed it in a safe place....we thought. It was soon apparent that the bird was not placed nears it's roost but actually on the other end of the yard. Realizing his mistake the webmaster attemtped to recapture the bird. The bird was elusive though. Around and around the japanese maple and through the parking lot and back to the front. Frustrated the webmaster got a shoe box and attempted to capture the elusive bird. The scared and confused animal holed up in a thistle bush. Using caution and finese the webmaster got a brick and rattled the bush until the naive bird fell out. While the animal was in a stupor the webmaster threw the bow over the bird but it was too quick. The damn thing flew to the next yard under some ivy.

This is the bird....

This is the path....

You know the saying if you love it let it go......
I say screw that....
...if that little bugger comes back I'll be chewing on some cornish game hen tonight.

Oh yeah the walking crew walked today, too.
